Ms. Anna Smith is a distinguished member of the Senior Executive Service, currently serving as the Assistant Deputy Commandant for Program and Resources (Resources) (ADC P&R (R)) at Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, Pentagon. In this role, she acts as the Senior Resource Advisor to the Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources (DC P&R), the Chief Financial Officer of the Marine Corps. Ms. Smith provides strategic leadership over all aspects of financial operations, including full financial statement audit remediation, implementation of a sustainable internal control environment, and financial system controls. She is responsible for resource assessments, the development and justification of Marine Corps budget inputs, and monitoring Marine Corps-wide budget execution.
Appointed in January 2025, Ms. Smith brings extensive expertise in financial governance, audit readiness, and resource management. Prior to her current role, she was a Senior Leader at the Navy Financial Operations (FMO) Division, where she served as Chief Strategy Officer for the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy, FMO. In this capacity, she led critical Audit Response and Audit Remediation initiatives, optimizing financial operations and improving accountability across the Department of the Navy (DON). Her leadership contributed to transformative financial management strategies, strengthening compliance and operational efficiency.
Ms. Smith also held the position of Director, Financial Audit at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), where she managed financial audit liaison efforts and played a pivotal role in responding to the DoD Consolidated Audit. She led the administration of the Managers’ Internal Control Program (MICP) across MDA, developed the annual statement of assurance, and guided remediation efforts to address audit findings.
