The Marine Corps Financial Management Awards Program (MCFMAP) was established in 2023 and is sponsored by the Marine Corps Association and Foundation to recognize the outstanding achievement and innovation of individual Marines and Civilian Marines who made significant contributions to the financial management community, exemplified superior excellence, dedication to the mission and audit readiness.
- Financial Management Officer of the Year: (1) Company Grade Officer
- Financial Management Resource Analyst of the Year: (1) NCO and below
- Financial Management Resource Analyst of the Year: (1) SNCO
- Financial Management Resource Officer of the Year: (1) WO-CWO3
- Financial Technician of the Year: (1) NCO and below
- Financial Technician of the Year: (1) SNCO
- Finance Officer of the Year: (1) WO-CWO3
- Civilian Financial Manager of the Year: (1) GS-09 and below (any civilian serving in a FM capacity)
- Civilian Financial Manager of the Year: (1) GS-11 and above (any civilian serving in a FM capacity)
The below are examples and not all encompassing of what can be considered an initiative, system improvement, or innovation.
Financial Management Initiatives: reducing unmatched transactions, reducing aged accounts (DARQ), prompt recording of commitments and obligations, consistent timely and accurate payments, low improper payment rate, training which directly enhanced financial management, improving/creating financial policy, improving budget formulation, execution, cost management, substantial process improvement that contributes to audit readiness.
Financial Management systems improvement: implementing/designing new financial systems improvements, creation of valuable reports, developing new or substantially revising existing financial management processes (system change request), reducing time required to process transactions.
Embrace and demonstrate innovation: a clear improvement in workforce readiness, business processes, application of technology, and enhancements of capabilities. Contributions to FM community by publishing articles.
